pistachio pesto

Here is a beautiful plus unique pesto sauce to make before summer’s end.

Ingredients:

1 cup of basil

4-5 cloves of garlic

1/2 cup of olive oil

2/3 cup of shelled pistachios

Pasta of choice

Directions:

Utilizing blender, begin with the basil (adding a little water as you go). Next throw in the peeled garlic, blend more. Stop the blender and push the ingredients down towards the blade then slowly add the olive oil. Once you have a nice consistency, repeat the process but add your shelled pistachios. You will create a nutty, aromatic pesto sauce. Simply pour this over your al dente pasta and enjoy!

Terror

There is a culprit who terrorizes me today.
It is not a person, no woman or man.
It is not a bomb ticking away with a song.

It sits in my living room with one black cord.
It turns on and off, yet it never seems to stop.
It displays one point of view.

It likes to act nice:
It tells me what to buy
What to wear
How to fix my hair
Why I shouldn’t really care.

It shows Cowboys and Indians on a global playing field.
We shoot with steel,
While they’e equipped with a bow.

Then the sheriff comes to the stage
To let us know all the bad ones are put away,
On a deserted island in some bay.

For the magic black box has so much to say
About this culture and who we are today.
Yet, why is there so much it forgets to play?

M.C. Yogi’s Only Love is Real

Hi there!

I must share with you my love for M.C. Yogi’s new album, Only Love is Real. It was released on January 6th (my birthday!). The past couple of weeks I have been listening to the words and letting the energy of it marinate. I thought: “What better week than Valentine’s to write about it?” Only love is real, but to truly feel that with someone else, we first need to align our own energy.

If you need inspiration or if you are ready to take your vibes to a whole new level, you should definitely check out Only Love is Real. It is easy to find high vibe playlists, yet a full album is a rare gift. Add this energy to your sadhana or daily commute; you will feel a difference.

My 3 favorite songs:

Track 6 Light House – This soft yet upbeat song is mesmerizing.

Track 9 Dancing in the sun – Are you having the winter blues? This song will get you over it fast! Turn it on during sun salutations and feel the heat.

Track 11 Heaven is Here – Listen to this track during the first couple of minutes of meditation or while you are on an especially hectic commute. Simply beautiful.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy your week.

Warmly,

Genni.

This Polluted Mind

It is the illusion that causes the pollution in our mind
Making us blind to who we are.

Very unkind, unrefined, this illusion of the mind.

Perception is a part of the design living in our material world.
Being a part of this lie.

– Metaphysics of the mind –
The lack of capability seems like an innocent crime.

The signs multiply, yet they are ignored. Tell me child,
Who is your lord?

Your perception is what it is: correct to you. What must you do?

Don’t change your thoughts or ideas. Burn them.

Burn it all and see what is left, but you can’t. Not even your vision will reappear.

You are no longer blind to the design; your mind is free
To imagine each and every single possibility.

Tilt into 2015

Well hello there,

How are you? Is 2015 going well?

This year has been a bit unique for me. Usually I have all of my goals, ideas, and dreams in order before the year even takes off. An especially hectic holiday season mixed with travel left me supposedly behind. I say supposedly because I have felt so much joy and fun from playing hooky! No blog posts, no 2015 goals, no intentions for January. Do not get me wrong, I love setting goals and having a clear vision of all the possibilities my life has to offer…

However, a significant insight over the years has been the ability
to allow not only the experience yet the goal itself.

When we force goals to come, they may carry with them the energy of duty. That energy does not make me want to execute the goal! I utilize goals because they set my passion on fire – not because it is what I ‘ought’ to do. I use them to have even more fun! If we take the time to have fun and let go, the ideas that flow are much juicier. Just like ya have to let fruit ripen before biting in, respecting your goal’s gestation period is essential.

The best part of all this is if you did not quite make your New Year’s resolution (or have already fallen off the wagon) you can begin now or whenever it feels good.

Here are 3 awesome ways to nourish your goals while they blossom:

(1) Tilt – Do you remember the feeling of being on a slide as a little kid?? That fast, free flow ride came from simply tilting your body weight forward. The fun just occurred naturally – you did not have to do much. Approach goals the same way… Tilt into them and trust the ride.

(2) To flow, let go – Do not wait for Spring to do a deep cleaning. Let go of physical things right now that no longer serve you. When you create space, you have space to hold new experiences.

(3) Do not listen to me – Well, now don’t ya feel like ya just wasted a few minutes reading this post? lol. What I really mean is: simply take what resonates, whether it’s from me or anyone else. Trusting your own instinct is the fastest way to manifest any goal. If you have a great system keep it going! Write those goals and go get ‘em. Have fun in the process (that’s really what it all comes down to).

If you would like more specific guidance, contact me for a introductory coaching session. We will talk through your current vision and see how we can create an epic tilt for the best ride of your life.

Thank you for reading!

Sincerely,

Genni.

weight-loss, body image, and holiday expectations

Several of us struggle with body image; for some it is a chronic issue. Both societal and familial pressure is exacerbated during the holidays. Moreover, holiday gatherings centered around food may lead to intense frustration. As a yoga guide I work with students to bring awareness back to the physical body and appreciation for everything it can do rather than what expectations it may not perfectly fit. As a young female poet I have reflected on my own body image. Having the lived experience of being bombarded by all of the above has shaped both my personal and professional life. Today I share a poem from my book memoirs of the am. May it inspire you and help you find comfort during the holiday chaos. If you feel out-of-conrol regarding this topic, stop struggling and try a new approach. You can contact me for my online coaching sessions where we develop strategies together to overcome anxiety. Also, try the wonderful Gabrielle Bernstein’s Finally Full workshop (Click HERE for details).  Know that you have the power to change anything you are unhappy with. It is a choice, luckily there is help along the path.

Wait, Weight, Wait

Just wait, before you finish you day,
The thought of pounds, your weight,
Will most likely come to mind.

Don’t worry; it’s part of the design.
I want to prosecute the crime of this confusion.

Showing size zeros;
Those with eating disorders.
Yet, providing innutritious food,
To those waiting to lose weight.

This constant debate in our society has us
Waiting to weigh in. With our money, time, and health.

Waiting for truth to weight-loss cannot be bought.
Just STOP eating what they tell you is good,
And follow your heart – set yourself apart.

Don’t weight.
